It's the winter weekend over again.  Just in time for my weekend tee time, it snows/sleets today.

There goes my 10 AM tee time tomorrow.  Ugh!

We woke up to new snow this morning.   It sucks!

We got it a few hours after you. It seems relentless.

We just got back to Montana after a 4 month stint in Yuma and having played 3x/week.  Had to switch from shorts and T-shirts to jeans and coats when we got to SLC. While we missed the brunt of it, we still have a solid month+ of cold weather ahead.  On my list this season is The Old Works course in Anaconda.

Snow missed us but it's still going to be 33°F tomorrow morning, so gonna have to pass. Maybe next weekend will be better.

Its projected to be reaching plus double digits Celc by Friday finally. This means mat driving ranges might open for next week.  There isnt too much snow to melt so hopefully that helps. Its basically just been too cold.

For the courses though that want to do proper maintenance, I think late April is still the start most expect.

Brutal winter.  We've had snow on the ground since October 20.  Probably still close to a foot of snow on the ground on average.  Things are looking up though.  Predicted highs above freezing every day in the forecast.  Just need to get those lows above freezing now and we can start thinking about golf.

MAnaged to get out for 9 holes Sunday. It was cold at the start and colder at the end but not too bad. Wind was killer and distance was horrible. Not really ideal golf weather but it was something...

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

First tournament this weekend, and the forecast is for about 50 degrees and 20 mph winds. That could be really brutal. I'm hoping the winds end up calming down, because 50 degrees is perfectly fine for golf. Of course, we've had this tournament snowed out a couple of times recently, so just being able to play will be an improvement over that.

As I type this, it's been snowing steadily, though not heavily through the afternoon. Enough so that the ground is now covered, again! But there's some good news in the forecast, like 60's and 70's by the weekend. Of course, in this area of the country, warm Spring temps usually means rain! So, we're no closer to playing than we were before!

We have flurries coming overnight.  It's funny, beginning of March ibwas looking forward to courses opening early.  Now...I couldn't care less when I start playing.

I drove a little over an hour south to a "warmer" location.

    • Day 22 (23 May 24) / played the weekly nine-hole semi-scramble with the guys.  Solid play - primary focus was on making solid contact with the irons.
    • Day 41: Pitching/chipping into the net. A few full swings with driver hitting Almost Golf balls.
    • Day 568, May 23, 2024 Loooooooong day today. Got some shadow work done with an umbrella.
    • Day 148: 5/23/24 Hit balls on the range measuring ball speed for each club. Recently watched a fitting video where the fitter said he targeted 5 mph ball speed increase for each club.  Mine weren’t quite there. 4 and 5 mph were pretty similar except for 1 ball. Big jump for hybrid, bigger jump for 4-hybrid, and huge change for driver. Swung for the fences with driver and hit them all pretty straight at the end of my session. Several at 111 mph, which is above my normal speed. Finished with chipping release 1 with several clubs.  Good session!
