I didn't like how a lot of the questions and answers were phrased, nor the options.

I got a 34, but I don't know what that number even means.

I got 30. Like some other people have mentioned, I'm not sure what this was supposed to mean or what impact it has on my golf game. Are they suggesting that I'm no good because I'm not "gritty" enough? Is that like saying I need a better "mental" game?

It means you are a quitter and a pathetic excuse for golf....J/k! It means nothing. Just people have  different temperaments and ways of learning or accomplishing the same objective. I don't see how this test means anything at all about golf. It may identify passive vs aggressive personalities at best.

36. I wouldn't call it a very accurate test though. I don't see how pre shot routines or a lesson makes you gritty

Four more points for having a coach. :hmm:

Nothing wrong with having a coach but I know some people with coaches that have no "grit" whatsoever.

30 for me, which is lower than I expected, but maybe more realistic than I know.  Bad weather doesn't bother me, I actually kind of relish it, course is empty and no pressure, if you play bad you have an out.  After 40 years of golfing, I have my "natural" swing, no amount of practice or teaching will get me to scratch.  When I'm not hitting the ball well I score, very unlikely, not that it hasn't happened, it is golf, everything happens, but the odds of scoring well definitely go down when I don't hit the ball well.

44. Very surprised.

I thought if anything, I'd get dumped on for practicing what I'm lousy at and saying a pre-shot routine is why rounds take 5 hours. :-D

But I've absolutely played some of my best rounds when I hit the ball like crap, and love to be losing big time going into the back nine. That, and I seem to putt better under pressure than when it's a 4 footer with no purpose.

If only my handicap reflected it...

Your score: 32

1) Practice what I am lousy at. Though that is weighted towards ball striking. So I could easily have put, play it by ear. They are very similar answers in my opinion because both are predicated on how you are playing.

2) Streaky player, not consistent enough around the greens to really keep my score stable if I am missing greens. So I have to bet on a very good ball striking day, or an absurd putting day.

3) With a sub 30% scrambling, nope

5) It doesn't bother me to be down in a match. It can be a good motivational tool to help with focus. I really do find it fun to make a comeback. Its fun to chase down a leader.

6) I put suffering, just because I am my own harshest critic. Some times it is a learning experience, especially if it revolves around game planning. It's suffering when it just keeps hammering the same shortfalls over and over.

10) Lousy weather, it happens. It's golf, it's an outdoor sport, weather happens.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
