So, @Golfingdad and I were wondering in the other thread, how careful do you think everyone is gonna be while marking their balls this week?!

Maybe they are worried that O'Hair is going to win, but this way he only get to play 6 more years as a past champion

You can judge his age by when they start calling him O' No More Hair!

And David in FL, probably not that many. Augusta's greens don't have any "depressions" in them! ;-)

They should be as careful as they always are, that is, to replace their ball exactly where it was.

Usually the winds and weather are not as bad as they want everyone to believe leading up to the tournament.

I like the radar on the range feature. Hopefully they'll show more, distance and curve are nice, but many more interesting data points available. That's a 5 iron, 16 yards of curve? Doesn't look like that much on the graphic.

Doesn't look good for the Par 3 thing. 80% chance of thunder/lightning at 2pm.

Not much difference in the betting, only Jon Rahm seems to be shortening.

Koepka played nine holes with DJ on Tues and Brooks took money off him.Whatever that means.According to one of the talking heads on golf channel.

I think the first two days are going to be brutal.  My hope is that one of the flights doesn't catch a huge break either way and it is equally difficult no matter if you go off early Thursday or early Friday.

20+ MPH winds could make for some high scores.  I wonder if the setup will change somewhat given the forecast.

If you guys HAD to place a bet on one of these two players, which way would you go:

  • Pat Perez at 150:1
  • Fred Couples at 300:1

Last I saw, these are the current odds for these players.  I would take Boom Boom twice if I could...

Bridgestone j40 445 w/ Graphite Design AD DJ-7
Callaway Steelhead Plus 3 wood w/ RCH Pro Series 3.2
Adams Idea Pro hybrids (3 & 4) w/ Aldila VS Proto
Bridgestone j33 CB (5-PW) w/ original Rifle 5.5
Bridgestone West Coast 52*, j40 satin 56* & 60* w/ DG S-300
Odyssey White Hot XG #9
Bridgestone B330-RX

I'd go for an each way bet on Perez although I'd love to see Fred win it.

Paddypower has the top 8 places on each way bets.

I should be in bed

Golfing tomorrow but I just love the hype of the Masters.

I am shocked!  SHOCKED at the reasonable prices they are charging for food.  Don't they know this is America?  When you have people in a restricted environment, it's your civic duty to gouge the ever-loving shit out of them!

I'd take Freddy. He shows the occasional flash at Augusta.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
