Imagine if Rory could consistently take advantage of the position that the driver puts him in.

I'm not too unhappy about this delay; provides me an opportunity to go to the range after work without missing a chunk of Tiger's round! :-$

Delay won't be long. Just a pop up over the course. It may have a down pour for a short time.

Except that pop up has blown wider and there’s more stuff building behind it. Could be a while.

What's scary is Rory's inability to take advantage of that driver. Nobody was better than Tiger at using the tools he had to get the ball in the hole. With Rory, it's somewhat the opposite. Doubt Tiger would have accomplished much more (given what he did accomplish) with Rory's driving ability, but easy to imagine what Rory could accomplish if he possessed Tiger's mental game.

Mental game is overrated. Tiger is a better ball striker and putter than Rory is.

It would be scary what Rory could accomplish if he was as good of a ball striker and putter as Tiger is.

People often attribute the old Tiger's successes to him mental game but in reality he was just physically that much better than the other people he played against.

Tell that to players like Tom Weiskopf, who was easily one of the most physically gifted and talented players of all time, but severely underachieved. When asked about what Jack Nicklaus must be thinking during his back 9 run at the Masters in 1986, Weiskopf famously responded: "If I knew how the man thought, I'd have won this tournament!"

I know you're thinking what you said makes Woods out to be some superman, but you're really selling him short and making him sound like some sort of savant. The greatest players always possessed a mental capacity and innate ability to imagine shots that simple mortals didn't and no one exhibited those traits better than Tiger.

We've had this debate a number of times. The mental game is not responsible for a bunch of shots. It can account for a small difference here and there. But look, again, we've had this debate many, many times. This isn't really the topic to get into it.

So officially the 2nd round is postponed until tomorrow.

Ugh!  Tiger was just getting into his rhythm. It would be interesting to see how he come out of the gate tomorrow morning.

Weather has been pretty clear there for about an hour now. Wonder if there was just too much water on the course for them to get it back in shape.

Yeah. Hope we get to watch it. And if I ever hear a One Republic song again it’ll be too soon.

I imagine we'll see a typical Kisner let down over the next two days. This guy has been setting himself up to have great chances to win in quite a few of these last majors, but when it gets down to the championship rounds he just starts to fold.

Anyone know if there’s a revised broadcast schedule for Saturday morning?

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
