The location could be almost anywhere within about two hours in Pittsburgh, Ohio, or New York. I think the best idea may be to consider where those who are interested are coming from, and to play somewhere in that direction.

I'm looking for a golfing sub for The Bent Tree Golf League tonight. I just got back into town. My partner in the league just got call out of town. Both the guys who usually sub for me are unavailable. If anyone wants to play and can get to Bent Tree G.C. tonight, Wednesday 5/7/25 for a 5:22 PM tee-time you can sub in and be my partner for 9 holes. It's already paid for. Just let me know you want to play and you can play.

Our tournament holds up to 72 golfers. We usually get a mix of pretty much the same 100 or so guys that make up the field of 72. With the tournament having been going on for so long, some of the guys are getting pretty long in the tooth and starting to drop out. So, we are on a bit of a membership drive right now. I’m looking for guys who would be interested in playing in the tournament. 

The tournament this year is May 1st through May 4th. 

Here's our format: 

• We play off our handicap (GHIN is best), we do make some accommodations for folks who don’t have a GHIN. You can also play off your handicap as established by playing in the tournament itself. To do that you obviously have to have played in the tournament in the past. 
• We play off a quota system. Your handicap will be adjusted daily depending on your play. 
• We play (3) 18-hole rounds for a 54-hole tournament with the individual quota scoring system. 
• We also play a practice round and a horse race. Neither the practice round, nor the horserace are required, but the horserace is so much fun, you’d be crazy not to do it. 

The Tournament Location:

• Since 2015 the tournament has been held at Bear’s Best Golf Course, LV Nevada. Before 2015 it was held at Primm Valley Resorts.
• This will most likely be our last time at Bear’s Best, as Bear’s Best is going private.
• We are looking at Paiute among other places for 2026. If you join this year you can be part of the decision making process for where to go in 2026. 

The Tournament Costs:

• Fees: $565, of that $65 is administrative costs, which goes to running the tournament. $500 goes into a prize pool. All that money gets paid back out. Normally the top 20 or so get paid out, with the winner getting about 15% of the total purse. 
• The three rounds of golf cost $600. Which is $200 per round at Bear’s Best. That’s a negotiated price as during the time we play the tournament, a normal round at Bear’s Best would be $300/ea. 
• The Horserace costs $150. Money well spent. $100 of that goes into the prize pool (the top 5 teams get paid). The other $50 goes to Bears best to shut down the front 9 for us for a couple of hours on Thursday Night. We get the whole thing to ourselves, with a drink cart as well. 

If you are interested in participating let me know via a message here on TST. If you want to participate and also bring another golfer/friend let me know as well. I’d have to vouch for you and your friend’s ability to play, keep a proper score, keep pace, have a handicap that isn’t a sandbagged HC, not cheat (there’s some money on the line, so we fully expect proper tournament play.)

I've spoken with @DaveP043 and his wife Mary Anne about it when I visited them last week and they are interested, so we have at least three. I was going to ask @jsgolfer if he would be interested, but totally forgot about it when we played at Springfield. So, wanted to see if there was any interest in doing another group gathering sometime in August depending on @iacas's availability.   Don't have any dates specific in mind but thought i'd throw it out there first to see if ppl wanted and could do this.  We also played a round the day after the lesson so I'd be open to that, too.

I am starting this thread to solicit interest and begin planning an outing.  I encourage you to post if you are interested and if interested what locales might you be open to.  At this time it is very open ended.

We have members across a wide geographic area and some may need to drive but hopefully we can find somewhat central areas that get a high rates of participation.  It is very possible we have more than one TST Outing in 2023 so do not hold back, if you would like to participate get in on this initial discussion and lets find a way to make it work for as many of us as possible.

My initial thoughts are late May or June 2023 on a Saturday afternoon with an optional Sunday morning round for those that choose to spend the night.  It would need to be a "Rain or Shine" event since planning well out in the future.  One possible area is Cleveland, Ohio vicinity.  That is @ 3 hours from me in Michigan, @ 4 hours from Cincinnati area and not bad from Pittsburg or Western New York.

Question 1: Who is interested in a Cleveland Vicinity TST Outing on Saturday May 20, May 27, June 3, or June 10 with an 2nd optional round on the following Sunday.

I run a golf group that needs a new name.  I want to expand it to other markets, but our old name is trademarked and the guy who owns the trademark won't budge on it.  

We started as Winnipeg Beginner Golf - this scared away more experienced golfers and scared courses when we booked tee times

Then we became Winnipeg Not So Pro Golf - Great name but trademarked apparently

Now we want to start doing tournaments and so need a new name.  We have settled on Shoot for Par as the first part but need to know if its worth adding something on the back end like am golf tour or otherwise.  

Mediocre Golf Association beat me to it with a great name so here we are. 

Here's our mission what would you call the organization if it used the words Shoot For Par in the title.  

Our mission is to provide tournament & casual round experiences for amateur golfers of all genders and ability levels, guided by a commitment to giving back to the community, building camaraderie and encouraging lifelong health and wellness.

Looking for some people to play with in the Sandhills of NC.  I live in Sanford (about 45 mins south of Raleigh).  I frequently play Sanford Golf Course, Quail Ridge in Sanford, and several different courses around Pinehurst.  I can play during the week with enough notice and sometimes on the weekends with the wife's permission. 🙂 I have a buddy that will probably tag along sometimes when he's off work.

Probably near the end of March to allow the students to start practicing it shortly after learning it. (I think AimPoint works in the snow but not as well.) I want to kick off the 2022 season using AimPoint. 

I'm assuming most of us would prefer a Saturday or a Sunday. With @iacas's schedule that would mean at or after 2:00 on Saturday or after 12:30 on Sunday. (He has juniors until those times.)

Three questions:

1. Would you like to participate in an AimPoint class at Golf Evolution in late March?
2. Would you prefer Sunday afternoon or Saturday late afternoon? 
3. I'm thinking March 26-27th - ish. Is that weekend okay or would you prefer a different one?
