I think he was saying Smylie’s was medical.

Not quoting any particular person.

Not saying Cameron Mc. is a bad teacher, or that any of his team is doing a bad job. It might be that he needs a new environment and fresh eyes and a fresh perspective.

He shows signs of having it, and then...........

On PGA radio, he was the topic for about 15 minutes this morning. Of course, someone brought up the 2016 Masters and that he hasn't been the same since. I disagree. Don't forget about the 2017 Open.  He'll find it.

He's a major talent in a field of hugely talented people.  He'll be a top player again soon once he figures it out.  It's hard to come out of the gate so strong, it puts a lot of pressure right away and those expectations could be a barrier

He'll find his groove and likely be a top 10, top 20 kind of guy quite frequently - IMHO.

I would be pretty shocked if he ever has a season where he wins 2 majors and finishes T4 and 2nd in the other 2 majors. Just because that's so difficult to do, it's a fluke for basically anyone in golf.

I think he'll probably get back to a top 5-10 golfer at some point, though. I think golf media has generally underestimated how good Spieth was, because he doesn't have the distance or flash of someone like Rory or DJ. But Spieth, on his game, is as good of as of a ball striker as anybody out there (sans Tiger, I suppose). It wasn't his putting or short game that made him special, it was his iron play. I think that will come back at some point. From an interview I heard with him on the No Laying Up podcast, he believes he's close.

I do have some concern, though. That same interview made me think that he's not being a stupid monkey. He seemed really down the rabbit hole with his swing. I guess you have to be if your going through a slump like he is and trying to make changes. It worries me, though.

I hope he does and believe he will to some degree.  He has a world of talent but his game is gone compared to where it once was.  I wish him the best and hate to see such a young tour phenom having confidence issues.

I'm a huge Spieth fan (not quite to the point of @colin007 and Tiger, but close)

However, I struggle to see him putting it back together. He has become more twitchy with his pre-shoot routine (almost like Sergio used to be), and although he can get a string of good holes, it is rare that he can put together a round and he seems to have an affliction of doubles or worst in every event. Greller has said he needs to play with feel more and less with technique, and that Jordan is spending too much time on the greens looking at his book and not reading the green and making a stroke.
And as renowned as he was for dropping bombs on the putting surface, his approach shots and greenside game was what kept him in the hunt for many events.

All that being said, Jordan is always on the top of my watch list - but he has been banished from my fantasy golf team until further notice.

I think he’s still having good rounds. He shot 66 on Friday I think.  It’s that he can’t put four good rounds together. He’s shot 60’s in his tournaments but they’re all being coupled with over par rounds. But yes he’s definitely having a pretty bad slump. His best finish this year was The Masters, tied for 21st.

Or maybe it is just really really hard to hold together a game capable of being the best on tour for more than a couple of years.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Jordan has excelled at every level. The top of the pyramid is very sharp. He will come back and soon. Positive outcomes will lead to more good things. He just needs to string a couple rounds together. Bethpage with flat greens...Watch out.

Have you watched Jordan off the tee lately, he will struggle at BPB if he isn't in the fairway, no matter how well he putts.
It would be a sweet sight though.

I think, other than the obvious it being a Major, this US OPEN will really set a tone for Speith. He finally played some decent golf at BPB. I think he's really looking to come out strong here.

I think he just got lucky with his putter. He was 61st in SG: Tee to Green. 83rd in SG: Approach. He got T3 by gaining 10 strokes on the field with his putter. That's not something that's sustainable, even for the best putters in the world.

i hope he does. he's clearly talented enough and he seems like a good dude. easy to root for.

it's tough to watch spieth struggle because of his body language and negative self-talk. there was some novelty when i first noticed this because of "one of us!" but i don't enjoy watching people struggle on the golf course, especially when it's clear they're trying really hard to succeed.

perhaps spieth can tap into some of koepka's steely resolve or DJ's detachment, grind out some wins, and build some momentum. this would be a really enjoyable transformation to watch imho.

Agree and it’s a good course for him. He won at Pebble a few years back. As long as his putter stays hot. He made a lot of 5-10 footers at Bethpage. Will have to do the same at PB.

I agree with this assessment.

I would like to see him comeback to his old form, but I highly doubt it.  Once that doubt creeps in, it is hard to get back to the old self.   JMHO.

He’s off to a good start this week. So it looks to be more of a trend in the right direction rather than just a lucky week. That’s a good sign.

Jordan's problem is mostly mental.

Spieth Fan Here.
I have to go with mental issues aswell.
A friend of mine competed against spieth in their teen years. He said that Spieth´s ball striking was so below average in those tournaments but he was really strong mentally speaking.

I guess that in the last years he lost a bit of confidence and that affected big time his performance.

Hope he figure it out soon!
