  1. 1. On a good, not great, day, what will you shoot at your home course?

So, on a good, but not exceptional, day, what are you shooting? You can also give your exceptional scores if you want.

For me, I’ll shoot high 80s on a good day on my home course. For example, I shot 87 on the home track on Saturday. Could’ve been better too. On an exceptional day, I can shoot mid/low 80s. When I really get dialed, I can go ultra low. In back to back rounds about two months ago, I shot 80 and 83. The 80 could’ve been a 77 or 78 if it wasn’t for a triple on the third and doubles on both par 3s on the back. Those are still my two lowest scores today.

It wasn't an option but on a good day, mid to high 90's.  I chose high 90's as it's the closest reflection, IMO.

I said low to mid 90's which is an average day.  My new course is tough for this 16 HCP and a great day for me is high 80's.  Low 90's is the median.

As an 8 cap....a good day is high 70's....in the past 44 years....my daily golf target is to shoot 79 or better.....I hate shooting 80 or 81....especially if I choked on the last few holes.

I also play tees long enough to challenge me so that I also use the majority of clubs in my bag....I don't get much joy if I'm playing shorter tees just to be able to post a lower score.

On a good day it will be high 70's.

Although when I am in a slump, I will take anything in the 80's.

A good day for me would be playing even, or slightly better against my course handicap. Depending on the course and the tees, I think this is usually somewhere in the range of 84-87.

I said high 80s, which is about in line with my course handicap (15), though only playing every couple weeks has both my scores and handicap climbing pretty consistently. Last year, when I was playing a few times each week, I probably would have said low-mid 80s.

Playing so many different courses makes this difficult to pinpoint.    A score in the low to mid 80s on my "home" course that I've played 5 times is a good score for me.   I've played other courses where I've shot 80 and it was a good round.   Conversely, I've played courses and shot high 80s and felt I played as well as the day I've shot 80 at an easier course.

I usually judge a good round by how well I feel I've stuck the ball.   Score although "the" indicator sometimes isn't the best way to determine if I've played well.

I am okay with any score that starts with an 8.  Obviously an 80 is very different from an 89; but I'll take it.  70-something is a rare treat.  90-something...well...let's avoid that sort of outcome in the future.

I went with high 80's as what I consider good for me 88-91 wasn't an option. If I shoot 83-86 on the same course, I feel I have had a great day. Amazing that eliminating a couple doubles or not having a triple on the card can make you feel so much better about your round.

I checked "high seventies."  When I am playing well, my expectation is under "80".  When I play at my best, a handful of times a year, mid-70's.  My average score since 7/1/2020 is 81.5 so more than half the time I am not meeting my expectations.

A buddy once said, "79 is about 3 shots better than an 80."  Yes, it is absurd but I sort of feel the same way.

High seventies for me. The majority of my scores this year have fallen in the 75-80 range, and I have been playing "good" golf for me most of this year.

A great day for me this year has been 72-74, still havent broken par yet over 18 holes, but I have been playing super consistent golf for the most part so I'm not too upset

My goal every time I tee it up is to break 90. I don't do it very much so a "good" score for me is high 80's. My best rounds in a long time is 85 twice last year, and my best score of all time is 84.

That’s always my goal when I go out and play: limit my “off” holes to doubles. In fact, my 87 this past weekend was triple-free. Six months ago, my odds of carding at least one triple in eighteen holes was quite high. Now, it’s probably closer to 50-50, and it’s usually just one triple on the card now.

78s-81s are good scores, and are not to uncommon for me. I owe my consistent, lower scores to my various practice routines.

I voted for low/mid 80s

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.
