And you wonder why @Rick Martin why other members think you have a pathological hatred for Tiger Woods.  You never pass up the opportunity to troll a reaction.  You behave like a 7th grader at times.

Other times you post great photos from tournaments.  I just don't get why you need to troll about Woods?

Pathological is a good word for it. It does seem like it has become 2nd nature to just make a snide post about Tiger.

I don't understand the negative reaction he gets. If you don't find it funny (which I think is what he's going for most of the time), argue the merits. It's pointless to continue to call him a hater and a jerk.

It's classic trolling, Rick has made it clear he hates Tiger and knows full well a large percentage of members at this site minimally appreciate what Tiger has done for golf and like him as a golfer.  I highly doubt posting meme's and making the negative comments he does on this site about Tiger is done for any purpose other than to troll a response.

If that is the case, don't feed the troll. For 2 years I've been here and Rick's done the same thing and the same 6 or 7 guys have jumped to Tiger's defense while impugning Rick's character with the oh so offensive term of hater. What is the definition of insanity again? It just doesn't matter. Anyway not my fight but it does boggle my mind.

Quote:

Paul Azinger, who is working as an analyst for ESPN during its telecast of the year's third major, did not go easy on the 14-time major-winner when describing the state of his game.

“It’s hard to watch the greatest player of this generation be a middle-of-the-pack hack,” said Azinger. “You almost want to say: ‘Who are you and what have you done to Tiger Woods?’"

Azinger also commented on Woods' efforts to work on his swing.

“Everyone wanted to swing like Tiger, except Tiger. ... Nobody needs to tell Tiger what to think. Somebody needs to remind him how to think. I think he’d be better off with a good conversation than another lesson.”

Me and Zinger are pathological, aren't we.

The truth sometimes hurts that's all.. Although you are not going to find many people defending Tiger and how "close" he is till he starts performing.. How long is his majors drought now?

I thought Scott Van Pelt hit the nail on the head saying that Tiger Woods almost looks like he's accepting how bad he's become. He was laughing after the round today. He was joking around in his practices. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth looks like a man on a mission, kinda like Tiger used to. He was focused in his practices, not cracking many smiles. After the round today, he had that determined look on his face. A total tale of two different players right now.

Could not agree more, who the heck does TW think he is laughing after this round?! He did the same thing after shooting 80 at the US open. The old Tiger would be looking for things to take out his anger on. As a Tiger fan the way he is acting after thsee rounds pisses me off.

Oh yeah, we've definitely been criticizing you because you criticize Tiger's play. Sure can't be something else. As far as Tiger laughing, who gives a shit?

Re Tiger, from physical, to mental and emotional, to now execution. I think the laugh is just a nervous laugh seen many times on the ballfield. Your only as good as your last at bat we used to say to each other. You have to produce or be replaced adding more pressure. Now a golfer, a hall of famer undoubtedly, who's lost his way.

I resist commenting on Tiger, but cant people leave this  guy alone?

Obviously he's not the same player he was but everyone has gone thru declines in their game.

If he doesn't come back , that's okay, he was the best golfer in the world for the longest time.

I like to see Tiger get his mental focus back and I feel he can become competitive again,

It's a shame he isn't not competitive in the big tournaments anymore, but I think he's got a right to play them and post whatever score he's capable of.

Cant we focus on the younger players ?

Tiger's era is over .

So when Tiger was focused and throwing a clubs, "cussed", etc people complain ... When he obviously accepts to some degree he screwed it up and laughs, people complain ... I see a no-win for the guy ... Perhaps by laughing he knows there are things bigger than golf ...

Here the facts about Tiger I base my personal view on: Consecutive winning seasons with 6 wins 1999. Three years injured knee; reconstructive surgery with swing changes and coach. 8 wins 2012-2013. Back injury with surgery. Swing changes and coach underway. He's actually on target with rehab for these types of inguries as he has demonstrated. But recently I'm not sure HE believes he can do it. I'd like to see that change. I like Tiger, but I'm a lefty and root for Phil :-D

    • I saw this video yesterday, couldn't figure out what he meant, then saw this thread and thought "oh maybe someone knows what he was talking about" and you guys are in the same place as me.  I *think* what he's suggesting is that you play a game such that going low is expected. He said there are different variations of it. I think his variation is you get three goes at a shot. You hit your first shot and it's good enough, then you just take it. If it's not good enough then you can abandon that shot and play another. If you still don't like it, you can hit it a third time, but then you're stuck with it. He's good enough that three goes at a shot ought to give him one that's good enough to move on. He did mention his parameters for what counts as "good enough", although I do note that he should have hit a third go on that pitch from the hazard based on that. He holed the putt though so it worked out in the end. I think if you're not as good as he is (which let's face it is everyone here and virtually everyone on the planet), then you'd adjust those rules to make it such that you might manage to make 5 birdies in a row. So maybe you play a two ball scramble with yourself and if you don't like either one then you can abandon those and hit a third or you play a three ball scramble or whatever it is that you need to make your standard work.  At its base though, it's just like going out and playing from the front tees or playing a scramble with yourself. The goal is to gain comfort with making lots of birdies and going way under par, so that when you find yourself in that situation in a real game, you don't panic. It's an interesting variation and if I ever got to play "for fun" at my home course, then I'd definitely try it.
