What'd You Shoot Today?

Recommended Posts

Shot a 90 with two birdies. Two bad tee shots with hybrids on par 3s cost me about 4-6 shots, and a bad drive (too much beer swing) cost me two more. My short game was lights out for some reason, my chips were routinely stopping 1-2 feet away from pin. I wish I had that every day, lol.

Second round in a row that was a 90 with two birdies. I need to improve my concentration.

39/40=79.

Not horrible, but nothing really to write home about.  1 double and no birdies.  Nothing wrong with a bunch of unremarkable pars though.

It's been a good golf weekend.

Friday Night - 79 - 41 on the front, 38 on the back.  Had to par the last 3 holes to get it.

Saturday - 79 - 40 on the front 38 on the back.  Once again had to par the last 3 holes.

Sunday - 78 - 41 on the front 37 on the back.  Was forced to par out starting on hole 12 (boogied 10 and 11).  Did one, better...literally.  6 pars and a birdie on the last 7 holes.  If I could have made more than one of my 5, 8 foot birdie putts it could have been an outstanding day, but I'll settle for a great day :-P.

The last  3 months have been somewhat of a breakthrough.  At the beginning of May I was an 11 handicap.  I'm currently trending to an 8.2.  Its kind of nice :-D.  It's probably going to suck for next weeks Club Championship.

Played without @Gator Hazard and @jsgolfer's dad. Shot 43 - 50 for a 93. Quintuple on the back nine really hurt.

I'd take a 93 any day, nice shooting. Thanks for coming out with us.

40-37= 77 (+5) still playing in cold and windy conditions. Good practice thow.

Finally the wind stops and i shoot 70 (-2).

I discovered that on short putts i was not accelerating thru the ball. Besides sinking 10 out of 12 inside 10 feet (that could be luck) my stroke feel good in all thous putts, even the 2 putts i miss, both inches short in-line.

Just a standard typical round of 42 for me. Got a 6 on a par 5 and doubled a par 4, first time I had done both of those in a while. my chipping saved me, had 3 or 4 up and downs for par saves.

It rained again...as it seems to every day.  I shot 135 at the driving range.  Could have gone much lower; but I opted for the big bucket.

Last Wednesday I shot a 44 on 9 holes, about 2950 yards. 4 pars & 1 ruinous triple bogey.

I feel like I never get to play anymore.

I got out today and played 9.  I shot a 41 on the front 67.3/117.   I missed one fairway bad (ended up in another fairway but had 8 nGIR, 4 GIR.   I putted well except for #6 where I had 4 putts!  I still ended up with 17 putts.  I was bragging last week about no 3 putts the previous 2 rounds.

Played 9 on Sunday and again on Monday. Both on my home course front 9. The second 9 I played the blue/white combo tees which play to a hair over 3300 yds. Shot a 39 with 2 birdies (another 2 birdie putts lipped out), 5 gir, and 5 fir. My short game has drastically improved since reading the short game bible towards the tail end of the spring. The combined 9s were my first outing that I can remember where I posted a single digit differential. Hopefully I will be a single digit index by the 9/1 revision.

108, 54/54.

@tlazzol was kind enough to drive up to my home course today. It was nice to see how this game should be played - at least until the nasty weather chased us off the course. I went back out and finished the last 7 holes.... but it wasn't pretty.

I'd been playing from the short tees so much lately I expected a high number when I moved back a set of tees, but I was hoping it would be a bit lower than this.

In addition to the normal and expected weaknesses, I wasn't as accurate with my iron play - which I'd been pretty happy with before today.

This is what I need to do more of - challenge myself by working on my weaknesses. I no longer have the high expectations this year I've had in years past, but I'm hoping to achieve some tiny bit of improvement by the end of the season.

There's a thin line between enjoying the game and setting myself up for failure.

Back out to follow up my 74 on the 69.9/121 home course. I thought I would would have a typical post low rounds STB and it started out that way... Bunch of bogeys on the front nine and crap drives (14% fairways hit on round... Whorable) but I birdied the hardest 9th hole and went on a tear of pars. Ended up birdieing 17 and 18 for even par back 9. Shot 78 for the first back to back rounds in the 70's that I can recall. Putting like a bashee.

Jon,

Ask Joe, it's the host job to control the weather.... .    Terry does have a sweet swing.

I was lucky enough to play Flint Golf Club (private).  It is old money and the course was pristine.   I had a career putting day with 28 putts, 1 chip in, and 2 birdies.   39/43 - 82.    Not quite a career best but close.

Played Kiva Dunes two times last while on vacation, 67.8/119.  Shot a 78 on my first rounds, and two days later had a chance for my best round ever as I was -1 after 16 holes.  It is the first time I have ever shot back to back in the 70's.  I hit 9 GIR on the front 9 that day, had 4 birdies and felt like I missed some putts on a number of other makable birdies.  I ended up bogeying 17 and 18 for a 73.  I am looking forward to my round this weekend, I hope I can keep it going!

It is bad form of me to get a side discussion going in this thread (see the first post "rules"), so I just wanted to point you to consider this thread. I know you have a scientific approach to the game so maybe you'd seen it, found it interesting, and commented there already.

As for me, yesterday I played my first injury-free round since April. 83 on a short, open public course near me. Good score but on a typical course, I would guess it would've been 90ish.

Played a fun mountain course in the western mountains of North Carolina last week. Keep in mind, I was creaky from several days of multi-mile hikes to remote waterfalls. Quite the adventure score-wise as I started with 3 tee shot shots OB for an 11 on an short par 4.  First 3 holes were +14, as I did the math on the 4th tee.  Yikes. At that point, I just relaxed and had a good time enjoying the views and interesting terrain. Still a good day on the course with some nice retirees there.
