I rarely get to play with my son or a friend (most friends don't play).  So those are special days.  So for me it is my true recreation.  It allows me to recreate myself in terms of body and mind and gives me a chance to express my frustrations in invectives from 7 languages.  I have a few other hobbies, now that I am retired, but golf holds a honored space because of the reasons above.

Golf is a game best played with others. But I can play a round solo and enjoy it just as much.

Mark Twain called Golf a good walk spoiled; I call it a good walk enhanced.

Very true. Great camaraderie on the course, but playing solo and just taking solace in the natural beauty, the colors of the changing trees, the crack of a ball well struck... hard to go wrong either way.

What I love about Golf?? I love the challenges that every new round and course brings, I love being in the outdoors and away from work, and I can just be me and enjoy the game we all love playing!!!

Favorite things about golf.... I usually end up playing with another single or twosome of men. Some are older like me and we play from the same tees.

1) I like the friendly competition - it makes me get creative with my shots, not necessarily taking more chances than normal, but thinking about alternatives.

2) the peace and quiet on the course

3) the game teaches patience

4) sunshine

My favorite thing about golf is the singularity of it.  When I'm on the course I don't think about work, family or any other stressors in my life.  I'm focused either on the shot I'm trying to make or enjoying the moment.  Up until recently I was an avid skydiver, and these were basically the same reasons why the sport resonated so much with me.  That and the community of people whom I shared the sport with.

my favorite thing is being on the first tee as the sun is rising and the day/round is fresh and full of possibilities.

2nd favorite, hitting that sweet shot right down the fairway.

Time with my adult son. We didn’t get along, at all, for a long time and it was golf that brought us back together. We play together almost every weekend now.

On the days when my swing is right and I am making consistent solid contact, there isn't much better. It may be a rare thing for me, but is is sweet thing.

Great post, jetsknicks1.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Great post, jetsknicks1.

I second that. No parent and child should be in that situation. Awesome to hear that this frustrating game brought you guys back together. 👍
