Mark Broadie looks at the stats and compares how hard Augusta National's greens are compared to regular PGA Tour events.

From all of this data, it becomes much easier to decipher what it takes to win the Green Jacket: Dominating approach shots and putting for the week and managing additional gains on the field in driving and the short game, making ANGC , statistically, like any other course. From 2015 to 2018, the top 5 players each year gained—surprise!—an average of 30 percent of their strokes in approach shots, 30 percent in putting, 20 percent in driving, and 20 percent in the short game.

I feel like this is typical for most tournaments. Maybe it's more evident at Augusta.

Don’t you think SG from putting would be a higher number at ANGC than courses with ‘easier greens’?

I’m treading in unfamiliar water here so bear with me. It seems that 30% SG from Approach and 30% from Putting would be those numbers because if you’re putting well on a course with difficult greens you’re leaving the pack.  If 10 players all have an 8’ putt at ANGC you may see 4 of them make it. But 10 players with an 8’ at a flatter, softer course you may see 6 make it. So you’re gaining more strokes in the field if you putt well on a course that is giving more players a hard time at the green.

Does this make any sense at all? I completely admit I’m sub-moronic when it comes to statistics.

I managed to download it from the stream. It's 7.12 GB. But it has some weird parts even later in the coverage where it says "Live Coverage Will Begin Shortly." Maybe those were the few commercials.

I believe I managed to get it at 1280 x 720 all the way through.

FYI.  It seems to be available on YouTube now.

Sounds like Corey Conners will get an invite after his win at the Valero...

I mean yeah... The Masters invite was one of the perks to winning that tournament...

Not trying to be a jerk, but please have the moderators remove the apostrophe from your title. You're obviously a fan of this major and I'm sure it wasn't intentional. The MASTERS deserves to be treated with reverence by all of us.

I don't care much about the reverence thing, but that apostrophe did have to go.
