I've gotten much better about it in my year or so here.

And you've seen plenty with the big names in them, too. C'mon.

Absolutely, but there was a specific from someone that I was commenting on. Didn't do the quote breakdown though.

Oh yeah. The only way we know how lol.

I wasn't talking about my arguing "skills", just the fact that I don't get nearly as worked up as I used to.

That's what I mean. It takes practice to remain calm. Kinda like golf.

I've actually been blessed with calmness on the course when it came to my own game. Had to learn on the PoP side though. Waiting sucks.

I'd like to give a shout out to @boogielicious and @ncates00 for providing feedback in my swing thread to try and help me improve.

Also, shoutout to @Antneye for having great taste in hockey teams.

And one last shoutout to @Slice of Life, @ChetlovesMer, and @saevel25 who are super cool folks who I'm glad I got to meet in person and become friends with at the August outing.

Thanks! I figured my golf swing knowledge would never help get me into this thread so it was going to take something like this.  Had you made the poker game you might have been also been able to thank me for donating money to you. 😂

Special thank you to @sjduffers who set me straight on this thread.

I totally misinterpreted something I heard on the radio and @sjduffersset me straight. I thank him for not calling me an idiot, but instead just kindly pointing out that I was in error. Thanks, for setting me straight.

I haven't given a compliment for a while so I thought I'd give one to @iacas for starting this thread:

I find this a fascinating topic. One which my friends and I have been discussing for years now.

There are great contributions (some of which I agree with, some of which at least made me think) from @woodzie264 , @boogielicious, @Double Mocha Man, @saevel25, @GolfLug, @Zippo, @Denny Bang Bang, @SoCal Hack, @Shorty and others. (My apologies if you made a great contribution and I forgot to mention you by name.)

I have to give a quick shout out to our fearless leader @iacas.

I've been playing a particular 54-hole-golf tournament out in Vegas every year since 2009. I've only ever finished in the top 20 twice. My highest finish was 10th place. I've actually finished dead last before. In addition, over the years I've played many other tournaments and never finished in the top 10 in any of those.

This year we had a field of 70 guys in our tournament, and I won it.

It's a handicapped tournament in which you can either bring an official GHIN Handicap if its your first year, or you play off your established handicap if you've played the tournament before. Most of us have been playing this tournament for many years.

So, as some of you may know, I started taking lessons from @iacas last year in July or August, and now I'm starting to play some really good golf again.

I still have a way to go, but I wanted to compliment @iacas for all the work he's done with me so far. I hit 7 of the last 9 greens in regulation, with 2 NGIR's (including an eagle putt attempt on one of the par 5's.) All I did was focus on my priority piece for the last 9 holes and it paid big dividends.

Thanks, Yoda.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
