Sure. Tiger gets to use one of his wedges and gets a free shot.

I missed this one. Don’t really want a new thread for it since I very much doubt it’d take place. Jake Paul challenged Tiger to a fight… because Tiger was a top 10 athlete google search… yeah.

This is a Tiger Woods thread. Not a Jake Paul thread. Who gives a sh*t what that jerk says about anything? Millions, obviously, but you may as well link to a comment he makes about anything else. Saying you "very much doubt" it would take place isn't as emphatic as it should be. He may as well say he's going to challenge Jack Nicklaus to a fight. Not worth reporting.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

He also hit a 4I from 240 out on a par five to about fifteen feet.

My god he is lucky to be able to do this. Well, mostly lucky with the immediate after effects of the car accident, then I think most of it is just how much he trained his body and swing. We mortals can only stand in awe.

Some easy wedges I get, but this was very unexpected.

The only problem is that after following his body for too many years now, I can’t help but wonder when the bad news come, or video of him limping into a cart. It’s been emotional to many a fan, I can’t imagine how it must have been for him to be struck down, climbed up again only to fall once more. Says a lot about his motivation and drive to play golf and win tournaments.

Oh well, all the best to Tiger and his body. He will always be a point of excitement if he’s on a list of players starting a tournament.

It was lucky to not have lost the leg.  But the rehab isn't luck, it is grit, hard work, and determination.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Not ashamed at all to admit that I've been more than just a little emotional watching this weekend - the fact that he's playing at all, his interactions with Charlie and the little guy's game and mannerisms, seeing him with Sam, it's all been wonderfully overwhelming.

I’ll be a real Debbie Downer and say I’d just like to watch Tiger play. The incessant babbling over Tiger’s leg was ridiculous. Listened for awhile on radio and couldn’t take it anymore. Then I’d come back and….still talking about his leg. He shattered his leg. He’s done a remarkable job with his rehab. Let’s just enjoy the golf and not make it a five alarm news flash when he winces.

Seriously.

And like I've been pointing out, and had to a lot today on another site, it's good that it was his trail leg that was screwed up. It lets him get back to playing golf a LOT sooner. If it was his front leg… we'd not see Tiger on the golf course yet, I don't think. For months.

    • Of course, just like a youtube video. If you are just going to watch it and then expect it to change your swing you will be disappointed.  Similarly, if you are just going to get a lesson from a pro and expect it to change your swing, you will also be disappointed.  A couple of things.  You certainly can learn any way you want to. Do what works for you.  Notice in my post I said "swing coach", not "pro". I see many pros who aren't coaching. That's why it may take a while to find one who's right for you. Took me a while.  I believe a good swing coach will not only help you find a "feel" if you will. But will also help you learn to reinforce those feels as you practice. Then check progress as you go along. I send video back and forth to @iacas between lessons and he's quick to respond and point out if I'm reinforcing the right things. Or, if I'm getting off track. These are things you don't get from some... okay, possibly many "pros". But you DO get these things from a good coach. Incidentally, you normally don't get those things from a youtube video.  Lastly, what ever works for you is great. There's no "right" way to hit a ball. There are some ways will produce better results. There are some ways that are more repeatable and what works for one person won't work for another. Enjoying golf is the goal. Getting better tends to make it more enjoyable. 😁 No reason to be sorry. What you said typed is factual. I'm not offended. 👍👍
    • Not sure if this would be an option for you, but seeing this I was reminded of something I almost tried earlier this year.   In the end, working with my pro helped the issue I'll describe, but I was considering doing this. My set breakdown is 4-PW, TaylorMade M5.   I have always felt that the PW didn't set up well for me and I would frequently struggle to hit it well because I would tense, flinch, etc.   The PW was 135-140 yard shots for a full swing, and my next wedge a Vokey 50 is about 115y for me.   Part of the issue with the PW was that I had to cover all the distances from 140 down to 115 and I had little confidence. My prior set of clubs were Mizuno MP-69 blades and the PW there was 120-125.   That fits a nice gap and I almost put it in the bag (I could take out the 64 degree wedge I carry but only use a couple of times per round) except I started with a 3 pack of lessons and started to feel better about my swing and those in-between shots. Given the loft/launch differences, don't discount a setup like that if you are trying to gap wedges.
    • Respect to you for actually trying.  Your post is worth a lot more than others.  👍
    • My boss "leant" me his driver's license so I could book a time years ago.   I played the red and the black in the same day.   I really liked the experience.   Yeah, some of those bunkers are crazy from what I remember.   Isn't it 12 that has that huge fairway bunker right in the middle?  And somewhere on the front is a hill full of them IIRC. And I also think 15 is the one with the green up a big hill.  I don't remember all the holes but it was one of the better golf experiences I had when I lived in the area.   I saw Davis Love III stick it close on 15 as well, following the Open on Friday the first time is was held there. I also recall one of the players being heckled after topping a ball out of the deep rough on 7.   He hit it about 20 feet.  Some guy with a Long Island accent goes "Don't worry, I did that last month myself!"
    • I did just that. Just finished a bucket trying what he’s teaching. It was awful. Shanks, pushes, push slices. I did manage to hit about 10 shots that were nice draws but not any more distance than my own hilarious method. I’m pretty disappointed. You really had me going this was gonna be a Eureka moment. It’s probably like any other method in that there has to exist some sort of natural talent which I and @ChetlovesMer lack. So unless every single aspect of the swing is detailed correctly to us, we’re not gonna get it right. And when we do make the swing that looks right on video, the feel is so foreign and unrepeatable to us we find ourselves reverting back to comfort. Sorry I spoke for you Chet.
