“It will feel completely different for Jordan,” McIlroy said. “If you look at the stats at how those who have had a double-major season have performed the next year… well, it's hard to back up. It just is. There's so much expectation, so much attention and focus. And I think it is more self-inflicted pressure really as your expectations are so high.

By all accounts Rory is right. Since 1980, only two guys won a major again after winning two the previous season. Tiger Woods twice, and Tom Watson once.

He has to regress. He went 1st, 1st, 4th and 2nd. If you add that up, that's as good as Tiger's 5th, 1st, 1st and 5th in 2000, which was the best ever.

Jordan's going to continue to win majors and continue to post top-5s regularly, but asking him to repeat what he did in 2015 is just plain crazy, especially with the competition getting tougher.

No option for zero?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him win one, but I'll always take the field against any single player in any given Major.  The field is just too strong.

I thought I put that in. That's strange.

Any moderator want to edit that poll to add an option for zero?

I voted 1 but wouldn't surprise me if he got 0 or 2.  At 22 he's already gearing his season and his team, around the majors.  We haven't seen a cat like this since Tiger.  He won't win em all but he will win many.

I went with one because zero wasn't offered. Tough to repeat after such a great year. He will win some tournaments no doubt, but a major is going to be much tougher this time around. That said I hope he wins three.

What might the odds be that neither Jordan or Rory win a major in 2016?

I think the poll should read:

How many Majors will Jordan win in 2016?

That's the question being asked, right?

Good catch

Sorry, guy-----but I must correct you----Tiger won the PGA in 2000 so his finishes were 5th plus 3 firsts. It is easy to remember since the 3 firsts were followed with a win in the 2001 Masters, thus creating the "Tiger Slam".

You probably did. I had to put in "Zero", not "0" for it to work. Also added 2016 to the question.

It will be really hard to putt as well as he did from 25' again. Statistics are working against him.

I am also not so crazy about the swing changes he seems to be making.

I'm going to vote zero.

I figure Jordan, Jason and Rory will win one major each.  The fourth is a shoot-out for the three of them against the field and I see it being difficult.  Probably a one and done winner of a slam.

Not to denigrate Jordan but winning more than one major in a year is very hard to begin with and doing it in two consecutive years is harder still

He had an historic year in the majors so regression to the mean is likely. But if he pulls off another major win, it may indicate that he's got the stuff for a historic career track.

Kevin

The kid had an amazing year, if he were to win 1 in 2016 and finish in the top 10 for the others that would be a great year - but it would look like regression.

He was in position to win (or have a chance to win) on the last hole of 3 majors; but his T4 at The Open was closer to winning then his 2nd place at the PGA.

I think he will be in contention in 2 or 3 of the majors entering Sunday, then he "only" has to be the best with the flatstick and avoid the trouble (or benefit from others getting in trouble or getting injured).

Whoops....typo on my part. Meant to say 5th, 1st, 1st and 1st. My bad.

(edited)

Swing changes do not bode well. It may be a year of adjustment.

Strong field. Rory is back as is Day, Fowler, et al. And you'd think DJ would take one ... well, you'd think.

0 majors.

I think there is too much pressure on him for 2016, so I voted 0.

He will not win Masters but there will be some amends made by the time US and British roll in. I think one of these two.

I don't want to say "obviously he's going to regress," but it's tough to improve on 1st, 1st, 4th, 2nd. Hell, it's next to impossible to match that.
