I think the far more glaring error in the tweet is the FACT that the dog is not surfing, but paddle boarding. :-P Geez, can't the PGA Tour tweeter even get that right!

I found it kinda funny. Thought it was playful and teasing in a relaxed part of "season" in Hawaii where things must feel very laid back early in the year (while most fans hunkered down in the cold). I got that vibe more than elitist and condescending (ymmv)

Ha ha ha. A little strong, no?

Yeah, haven't picked up a club in 6 months probably just came down with the golf fever.. I'm loosing it.

Feeling better now though, man what a stupid thing to get riled up about lol.. but hey, if they can have a pr intern or whatever put a tweet on PGA tour account, surely it can't be surprising that Eyad's alternate ego ca get a post or two in on his tst account?

wait, am I talking about myself in the 3rd person now?

Is this (perhaps) a friendly jab at the Pro-Ams? I've heard a lot of the Pros don't like competing in the Pro-Ams. I assume when golf broadcasters refer to "amateurs" they are referring to the Pro-Ams.. They can't possibly be talking about the average weekend warrior. That would be like making fun of my daughter trying to bench press.

Yeah, that will help remove the idea that golfers are elitist who think they are better than everyone else, especially the ones associated with the PGA.

The above post really just pissed me off, and I will never buy, participate, or defend the PGA in any way shape or form.

If it wasn't for me actually liking golf I would quit if I thought it would do harm to the PGA financially.. unfortinatly it won't and I like golf.  But f*** them.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Just some knuckle head made a mistake and made himself look real bad to his supervisor.  This not a reflection of the PGA Tour.

It seemed to be a joke, but I think they forgot that the vast majority of their audience would be at the butt end of it. I personally found it mildly funny, but I can see why others might not.

We have become a society that gets offended WAY too easy. I wasn't offended by this and think it's the truth. I've accepted it, but many others think they're close to heading to Q-Shcool.

Bowdo! Got to love Bowdo. Should anyone pay that much attention to twitter? Maybe I'm not doing it right but it's generally mildly amusing noise no?

Then why not leave it on twitter?

Interesting how taking it down just strengthens the controversy.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

So you're saying that the PGA Tour using analogies is like a dog on a surf board?

That was my reaction as well.  This isn't the first time a business has screwed up while trying to be funny or "cool" (like those kids say) on the Twitter.

Goes to show that the higher your profile the more carefully you need to think about what you are putting on social media. The Steelers' Antonio Brown and a certain toupee-wearing businessman turned politician should take note.

    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
