You never expect a professional to whiff but that's what makes sports interesting, the unexpected.   I bet her second shot, which seemed to turn out good, was nerve wracking.

Pretty gracious to call ‘slip’. Pretty minor there...I’m calling it a whiff. Just a good old school whiff!

My first thought too - her foot moved an inch or two only.  That was basically a straight whiff.

Not seeing the slip but seeing the whiff...

It's her right (back) foot that slips about a couple of inches on her swing.  I can see how that can cause a whiff as your center shifts just enough to miss the ball.

She missed on the OUTSIDE of the ball!

I don’t think I could do that if I tried!

Maybe that's true but it did not look like enough... I do that and still top the ball...

There was a PGA pro last year that had his right foot kick out on him during a stroke. Don't remember his name or the tournament where it happened, but I remember seeing it. Messed him up a fair bit! He limped for the rest of the round, and I don't remember if he was able to finish the tournament,

Is she wearing spikeless shoes? That's only ever happened to me wearing those.

I saw this happen to my Uncle, who was a country club pro before WWII, and a damn good golfer! The course was wet and soft, and his right foot just shot out from under him on his downswing. He flubbed the shot. And this was back in the day when we wore real steel spikes!

I figure it's just an indication of how much force good golfers generate against the ground. If they did not, why wear spikes at all?

Actually it’s a good indication of how little weight remains on the back foot and the rotational forced generated.

When my foot slips I usually hit it solid but with a bigger draw as things remain closed longer. The hips are unable to open with the right hip rotating almost the other direction when the foot slips backward.

Rory did it at Kiawah.

Several years ago I stopped by a little 9 hole course for a quick round. Had my clubs with me, but no golf shoes. No problem...I've often just played in my sneakers. The teeing ground was a little damp. During my follow through my right foot passed my left foot and I ended up on my back. Fortunately, there was no one at the tee or on the clubhouse porch to see my misfortune.
