A new device at the PGA show made me wonder what percentage of golfers play with a phone in their pocket, for whatever reasons. I myself have it in the back pocket to get distances, don't have a laser and slow play provides plenty of opportunity to use it, but YMMV. I'm going to guess it's not a lot, 1 out of 4?

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

No.

If I ride, it's in the cubby in the cart, and if I'm walking, it's in my bag with my keys and wallet. My pockets, while golfing, only have items pertinent to the round; ball marker, repair tool, chapstick in the left, tees in the right, glove in the back while putting.

The fewer places my phone might be the better.  Mine stays in the car.  The last time I left it in my golf bag it took me a week to find it.

Overestimated. Should have said 1/10?

Golfing is an escape from my day, phone left in car (though I do have $ for the beverage cart).

My phone is in my bag when playing, or practicing. The volume (ringer) is turned off.

Anyone I know, who has my number knows to text me, and that I check for messages on a routine, regular basis.

Probably 99% of my phone use is texting, internet, and other data transfers.

Nope.  It goes in my bag with my keys, watch and wallet.

The only things in my pocket relates to golf: one or two tees, divot fixer, ball marker and an extra golfball.

Arccos. I love it, ergo my phone is in my front left pocket.

A ball, maybe 2, with tees and a ball-mark-fork in my right pocket. Glove goes in the back pocket.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Buy the little belt clip thing.

My phone is in my cart (push or driving), not on my person.

Yeah, funny you mention that, I just saw that on sale today for the first time. To be honest, i don't mind having my phone in my pocket.

In the cart for me unless I’ve got some medical issue going on with someone (family especially) then I’ll keep it on me.

Attached to the lid of my Clicgear cart, if I’m walking.

On those few occasions I’m riding a cart, it will usually stay in the cart unless I want to check gps yardage at the ball (cartpath only days).

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
