Sounds good. I hope we get to play before summer. Everything is closed until May 5 and probably longer if numbers keep going up.

I'm a Pro-V-1X guy. I've tried several balls over the last year and a half and it performs the best.  I know there are balls out there that are longer off the tee, but The "X" works best on and around the green for me.

Just bought my 5 dozen Snell MTB Black for the season. Hope I get to use them.

I am a believer in using the same ball and not switching.

I use the e7 Bridgestone ball, most of the time. Great ball for under $2 each.

Unfortunately I think Bridgestone has , or will be discontinuing them. Luckily I have a few dozen in my stock.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

I have bought 50 used pro v1s, prov1xs and avxs for 75€. I have yet to play them. They seem in pretty good condition.

While, once upon a time, a previous version of myself used to stalk golf balls in the wild; I have settled, of late, on the Precept Laddie.  They go for around 20 clams per 2 dozen and fall into the Goldilocks zone for me...neither clacky or mushy.  I also like some of the offerings from TaylorMade but they are rather pricey...at least compared to the Precepts.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

Does that mean you were often in the woods?  😊  (Hell, I have coyote friends who know more about my golf balls than me)

Yes indeed.  I would play with a single golf ball, until I lost it, then adopt the next one I found.  It was a point of pride to play the same ball round after round...no matter how many battle scars it acquired.

P.S.  The best place to find high quality, only hit once, golf balls is in the briers.

Srixon Q Star Tour. Great 3 pc ball at a real good price. If you have a slower swing speed try the Srixon soft féel. Its long but you will give up spin around the green. If you swing a little faster the QStar tour is real good.

Currently Vitamin M is preventing me from playing the golf ball of my choice.  I buy used balls at the club and wind up with an assortment.

But given a choice, I prefer the Titleist NXT.  I find the Pro V and its ilk has too much spin for me.  Off the tee I run the risk of excessive side spin taking the ball out of play.  On full shots into the green I really want the ball to drop and stop, not spin backwards, which most tour balls tend to do if hit well.

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Tour 900 golf ball

Titleist TruFeel.  I'm not good enough to play Pro V-1s.

I have been playing the Titlist TruSoft which was replaced by the TruFeel. I still have a few boxes of TruSoft that were available cheap from Amazon but eventually I will have to find a new ball. Just curious if you have ever played the TruSoft and if so is the TruFeel comparable?

I have played both. Titleist sent me a sleeve of the Trufeel to try and give feedback. I liked the ball but find the Srixon Q Star Tour better overall.

    • I played in an outing a few years ago. The course was wet, and it was windy. We all did bad enough to reward us with a PCC of +1 (If I am remembering this correctly). So all of our differentials went up 1.  So, if that score is part of my best 8 out of 20. That means I am getting 1/8th of a differential improvement. For you to get a PCC, you need enough people submitting their score for handicap during that day. Let's say you were the only person who was submitting the score for handicap, odds are you are not getting a PCC.  Which is fine, because no handicap system can be that nuanced. I don't think you'd want it to be. Still, my statement is correct. It takes into account weather and abnormal difficult conditions.
    • I’ve been rather surprised how my original question relating to the logic behind “differential vs course handicap” elicited the responses expressed on this thread so far. I suppose it shows that there are many who have given this subject a lot of thought. I personally like the current system for the same reasons stated in the post by saevel25 and it works very well in our league. I just needed to get the reasoning/logic clear in my head so I could explain it succinctly to those who had questions. Regarding the ongoing discussion, the only tweak we make is only the scores made in league competition count. (We don’t use GHIN, we do the calculation ourselves.) The only additional thought I had is perhaps the powers that be can come up with a method, when doing the differential calculation, of giving greater weight to the rounds played more recently than those from 20 rounds ago. I’ve been testing this with an idea I had similar to the way colleges calculate GPA’s based on credits offered by different classes, but honestly, the complexity it adds to the calculation isn’t worth the trouble as any change made has proven to be inconsequential.

    • Day 102 11-21 Early practice session today. Flow drill, getting to lead side, and a bit of skills work. Really need to slow down and ingrain the "rotating" to lead side.  Feels weird-which is great, it means changes, I'm just going too fast right now.
