Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

No but it’s weird. There aren’t even really insects. No bees. No chipmunks. Birds. Nothing.

No running.Β  No unattended guests. Fauna are not good at following these rules.Β  Thus none have been extended an invitation for membership and are thus banned from the course.

Flora, on the other, do follow these rules and are thus celebrated throughout the grounds and on every hole.

Never been there but I’ve heard it’s in like the middle of downtown or the city. Like in a place you would least expect. Is that true?

You can just look atΒ Google Maps Street View and see for yourself. It looks like your typical Georgia suburb, other than a shopping plaza named after The Masters and lots of shops that use green colored signs, Route 28, Washington Road, looks like any other thoroughfare in suburbia USA. Like many others, I also imagined a more bucolic surrounding.

Living here, it's true. We certainly realize what's behind the gates, but for those that come to the city for the first time, you could ride by it a hundred times and never realize what's behind the greenery.

Like most cities, there are parts of town you don't want to be in. AboutΒ 2 miles southeast of the course, the Summerville area of Augusta is beautiful. It's old Augusta that would reflect best on the National.

Whatever.Β

While I like watching the tournament and I understand what it means to win it, this is all getting a bit too much for me.

I wasn't awed by the elevation changes. I know what TV does to a course, having spent a LOT of time at Muirfield Village and/or Oakmont, for example.

I'm curious to see what my reaction to the elevation changes is when I get there in person. I very rarely play on flat golf courses. Everybody seems to say that the elevation changes are crazy in person, but I wonder if a lot of people just play on flat land? For example, the first hole at my home course is straight uphill, about 100'.

In the same vein, people talk about how there are very few level lies at Augusta. Again, this is something I'm pretty used to. It's probably more severe at Augusta than what I'm used to, but I'm curious to see it in person as well.

You wouldn't think it would be there but there is no denying something is special behind the gates when you see all the security. I think Sage Valley entrance looks very ordinary for how nice of a course it is.

Well, it's certainly not like some mountain courses I've played, but to give an example, from 10 tee to green is 140 ft. drop.

From the big oak behind the clubhouse to 12 green is a 240 ft difference. And no question, the ball is either above or below your feet on many of the holes. Very fortunate to have played one time and can say you will be pleasantly fatiqued when done as it is very telling to those that have lived over 5 decades.

And while there are courses that may be breath-taking because of location, it's doubtful they have not only the history, but the perfection with regard to how things are run, nor the reverence for the game, save the Old Course.

I watched an interview with DJ from Augusta National today. Good grief, the questions they asked him.Β Like - "What is the name of his dog shapedΒ head cover?" Seriously? You have a chance to ask DJ a question and all you can come up with is what he calls his head cover?

Norway is not a big nation in mens golf,Β but tomorrow is the first time a Norwegian will ever competeΒ in The Masters. Viktor Hovland qualified by winning U.S. Amateurs last year. Would be cool if he made the cut, but just being there is a big thing.

Did they ask him what he thinks of Matsuyama? Those are always my favorite. Every single PC the same question.

I think it is similar to the Superbowl in that there are more reporters from outside the sport at the Masters. So odd questions should be expected. Silly, but expected.

At least it's different and doesn't force him to either give a pat, cliche'd answer or risk social media rage for speaking his mind and expressing himself poorly.

How about, "If you were trapped in a Lord of the Flies situation with 12 of your fellow players, who would you choose and who would be Piggy?"
