I live in Vegas but my girlfriend’s place is in L.A. so I’m here all the time as well.  I’m having winter depression because the weather is currently so damn nice that all the courses are too crowded.  C’mon!  Rain a little so things thin out and I can try my new rain gloves.

I'd like to say we feel your pain, but you have to have pain for us to feel it!  :8)

I feel ya, I couldn't get a tee time until 10:15 tomorrow and 11:08 on Friday! Times are tough!

I'm not so sure now after two days with single digits. 34 sound pretty damn good now.

On the other hand, the white death is strictly grass decor for the moment. I guess it could be worse.

I am sure after a few weeks of no golf I may change my mind. White death may not give me the option. It is truly golfers kryptonite

It’s not such a big deal. Even when the weather was beautiful, I didn’t have much of an urge to play anymore. I did start having golf dreams again though. I was playing against Mr. Woods and was winning, so he started cheating.

-25 C (-13 F) this morning , another couple of inches of snow last night, staying this way for three more days, then it eases off to seasonal temps...8 weeks ago, played my last 9 holes-+24C (75 F). Happy the snow blower keeps starting

Starting to get into the winter depression here a little bit. It was beautiful here until the 20th, which was the day before I took some time off work of course. Since then, we've had enough snow on the ground so that most courses are closed, and I haven't swung a club in over two weeks. I'm holding out hope that I can get to the range tomorrow, but it's supposed to turn cold again after that. Unfortunately, it's been so cold that I don't want to go into my garage to work on my swing either. Might have to invest in a heater if the temperatures stay this cold.

Some courses are open today and will be tomorrow before the cold returns on Sunday.  I am hoping to play a round tomorrow morning.

No winter depression for the moment.  Warming up here.  Saturday/Sunday should be great days to play... albeit with drives that plug in the fairway.  I have a new driver being delivered today, and a bottle of Ardbeg single-malt scotch sent from Blackwell's in San Francisco... golf life is good.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
