Who is on your Mount Rushmore?

For me it's Snead, Woods, Nicklaus, Hogan. Not in that order. 🙂

If we are just including men as players: Woods, Nicklaus, Snead, Palmer

If we are expanding it to men and women as players. Woods, Nicklaus, Snead, Mickey Wright.

I don't have enough historical knowledge of golf to comment, but I have to say that the way Tiger delivers that answer is awesome. I love having bad-ass Tiger Woods back.

I'd say Jones, Hogan, Palmer, and Nicklaus.  Tiger will be added as soon as he retires.

Won't claim to be the best historian of golf, but any thought to Harry Vardon?

As I understand it, he was the game's best player at the time when golf was really starting to become popular in the U.S. His visits over here must have given the game quite a boost.

Cool question. When I think of the Mount Rushmore of Golf I think who impacted the game as a whole more. Tough to narrow it down to four but here it goes.

Tiger, Jack, Jones, Hogan.

Leaving Palmer and Snead off was hard, but thats my list.

I think Vardon was the early superstar in Golf. Of course he was beat in an 18 hole playoff by amateur Francis Ouimet. Does beating a giant warrant a spot on the Mount?

Otherwise:

Palmer, Hogan, Woods!

If it's all about them wins, Tiger, Nicklaus, Snead, Hogan

Though, I could easily swap out Hogan for Palmer.

Phil is a tough case. If he had about 5 more wins, I think he could push for that 4th spot.

If we want to throw up an iconic figure in golf, Jones could push out Hogan or Palmer for creating the Masters tournament.

Yea, I have to go with Tiger, Nicklaus, Snead, Jones.

I don't have a real appreciation of the history, so I can't answer fully.  So this is only partially thought out....

Tiger, Jack, Arnie, Seve.......

There are 3 that I would have as locks. Jones, Nicklaus, Woods. The 4th spot is between Hogan and Arnold. It's a tough one to choose for me because Hogan's accomplishments are incredible. But Arnold's impact on the game and his status as a pop culture icon give him a strong claim as well.

This was harder than I thought. I'm going with Nicklaus, Woods, Snead, Palmer. I gave Palmer the edge over Hogan (who I'm a big fan of) because of his impact on the game as a whole.

Good question.

Jack Nicklaus- He is still considered the best to ever play by many people, still has the most majors, he has to be on there.

Arnold Palmer- He was the first superstar golfer, and still one of the most enduring personalities even after his death. He was the first person to make golf cool.

The first two are easy, now it gets tougher...

Bobby Jones- He still has a presence on Tour with The Masters, he is still considered the greatest amateur of all time. I have to put him on there.

Tiger Woods- I realize he is a bit young to be immortalized, but he is the most famous golfer of all time. I may not have chosen him had I not witnessed that scene unfold on the 72nd hole of the TOUR Championship. There is not a golfer in the world that garners that much excitement. Heck there may not be another athlete in the world that garners that much excitement.

It's kind of weird watching someone being asked, who's the top 4 greatest ever and no questions asked one of them is himself and he says, well, me, then yada yada yada. I'd find it awkward.

Tiger, Jack, Arnie and then a fourth rotating cliff that flips every month between Jones (greatest amateur), Hogan (most enigmatic), Snead (longetivity at the highest level) and Player (international impact).

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
